WWE games are known for their detailed recreations of wrestlers and matches. Features like bleeding, sweat, and fatigue help to portray the physical toll of contests as they progress. Another such feature is “face paint fading” which enables face paint to degrade as wrestlers take damage to the head. However, 2K has now confirmed that a bug in WWE 2K23 means that face paint doesn’t fade as it should.

Posting to Reddit, WWE 2K23 player u/Knightlore70 shared a response they received from 2K Support after they raised the issue. “The face paint fade not working is a bug and I am very sorry you are experiencing it,” wrote the 2K Support team.

The Reddit user was keen to point out that the “in game loading screen states that paint is designed to rub off.” Another user replied and explained that it has been an issue in the past few games, too. They said, “I don’t think the face paint has EVER worked. It was supposed to in 19, and never worked for me…”

The Support team said that this WWE 2K23 clearing the game’s cache can fix the bug. “I’d like to start by doing a cache clear as this is an easy fix for a lot of issues. This helps to re-sync any files that may have been corrupted,” they explained.

Most commenters were unconvinced by 2K’s response. “This is all they ever tell you to do… Bunch of jabronis,” wrote Xbox player u/Pozessor.

WWE 2K23 launched on 17 March 2023. On release, it received positive reviews from critics and was viewed by some as a return to form for the series.
