A Plague Tale: Requiem is the sequel to 2019’s A Plague Tale: Innocence. The original game just received the next-gen upgrade treatment and was released as a free download for PlayStation Plus members. It was positively received on release. And A Plague Tale: Innocence‘s inclusion as a free monthly game brought it to new audiences. Now many, including myself, have seen what a fantastic and emotional story it had to offer.

A Plague Tale: Requiem was announced in June and fans are keen to learn more about it.

We’re pretty excited to see what changes developers Asobo Studio have made. And we’re looking forward to finding out if the sequel will improve on the already impressive original. So, with that in mind, here is all the key information we know so far about A Plague Tale: Requiem

A Plague Tale: Requiem Release Date

The first question most will ask is: “When is A Plague Tale: Requiem coming out?” The answer is 2022. When exactly, we don’t know. Focus Home Interactive haven’t been that specific about a release date yet.

In the current climate, it’s easy to understand why they might be hesitant to set a release date for A Plague Tale: Requiem. But with renewed interest in A Plague Tale: Innocence, it makes sense to release the sequel sooner rather than later. We expect a firm release date will be confirmed in the new year.

A Plague Tale: Requiem Trailer

Lucky for us, a gorgeous looking trailer was released back at E3 2021. You can view it here.

In the reveal trailer, Amicia de Rune narrates over footage of a swarm of plague rats. She tells us that she will do anything to protect her brother, Hugo. At the end, we see Hugo standing on a cliff overlooking the sea. And let’s just say, the game looks visually stunning. From the character models to the landscapes, it looks to be making the most of the next-gen hardware on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Gameplay Trailer

Currently, there is no gameplay trailer for A Plague Tale: Requiem. And we don’t yet know how the gameplay has advanced in Requiem. That is, outside of the crossbow we see on Amicia’s back in the reveal trailer. It sure looks more fun than the sling she had in the original game.

Asobo Studio have likely been hard at work improving and adding to the fairly basic gameplay of A Plague Tale: Innocence. Rest assured, when the time comes, there will be a gameplay trailer.

A Plague Tale: Requiem Platforms

According to Focus Home Interactive, A Plague Tale: Requiem will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Neither the trailer nor the official website makes any mention of Requiem on PlayStation 4 (PS4) or Xbox One. This will probably be disappointing for fans of the original game still on last-gen hardware. But from watching the trailer, we’re not surprised. That’s owing to how great it looks.

Cast

Nothing has been confirmed about the cast in the new game.

However, we can deduce a couple of things from the trailer. We hear Amicia’s familiar voice which is provided by Charlotte McBurney. Unfortunately, we don’t get to hear Hugo’s voice. But he doesn’t look too much older than he did in A Plague Tale: Innocence. So, it stands to reason that Logan Hannan will once again be lending his voice to Hugo.

As the release date approaches, more information will be revealed about the new game. And we’ll be sure to update this article to keep you informed.
