This article about what C-3PO does in Part 7 of Ashoka contains spoilers.

While Star Wars is a pop-culture phenomenon, there is simply so much of it these days that it can be hard to keep up. Even the most passionate Star Wars fans struggle to stay up to date with everything. This is something I myself have experienced, often having to juggle watching the latest Star Wars series with other shows and commitments.

With that being said, I always catch wind of surprise cameos and returning characters. And there’s a good chance most Star Wars fans – even if they’re not watching Ahsoka – will have heard that C-3PO pops up in Part 7.

His unexpected appearance comes during the opening scene of the episode and he is there to assist Hera Syndulla who finds herself in hot water following her mission on Seatos. But what did C-3PO do in Part 7 of Ahsoka and is it worth getting excited about?

What did C-3PO do in Part 7 of Ahsoka?

C-3PO appears in a courtroom on Coruscant where Syndulla is facing a New Republic senate committee led by Mon Mothma. She is being grilled by Senator Xiono, who argues that Syndulla has broken rules and ignored direct orders during her mission on Seatos.

Just as he calls for her to be court-martialed, C-3PO enters and is there on behalf of Senator Leia Organa. C-3PO rebuffs Xiono’s claims about Syndulla and provides the courtroom with a data transcript explaining that Leia approved Syndulla’s mission. He advises that the committee should take any issues they have with this to Organa.

Mothma immediately dismisses the courtroom and Syndulla is free to go. C-3PO isn’t seen again for the rest of the episode.

While his surprise appearance was a welcome one, it was clear to me that he was used as a stand-in for Leia. Similarly, his role was very limited which left me feeling like this was yet another example of Star Wars fan service. However, I’m never disappointing to see my favourite classic characters return and I’m sure other viewers feel the same.
