Elden Ring has been with us for just over a month now. And players across the world are enjoying it just as much now as they were on day one. That’s because it’s such a deep game, packed full of things to learn and discover. Its incredible open world – the Lands Between – is a key reason for that. But so are its varied (and often ambiguous) features, such as multiplayer. Multiplayer in Elden Ring comes in two forms. Cooperative (where players can join up to help each other out) and competitive (PvP, where players can put their builds and skills to the test against each other). When it comes to multiplayer, you might have noticed a peculiar option in the map screen – ‘Show Multiplayer Status’. You can show multiplayer status by pressing L1/LB. But it’s not immediately clear exactly what this does or means. So, keep reading to find out what ‘Show Multiplayer Statues’ does in Elden Ring

What does ‘Show Multiplayer Status’ do in Elden Ring?

Understanding exactly how multiplayer works in Elden Ring is essential. It isn’t straightforward, and requires usage of a number of vague items with confusing descriptions. But it’s also important to know which areas of the map are popular for multiplayer, whether co-op or competitive. This is where ‘Show Multiplayer Status’ comes in.

This is what ‘Show Multiplayer Status’ does in Elden Ring. When looking at the map, press L1/LB to show multiplayer status. This will reveal red and blue circles on the map. These indicate areas where active multiplayer is taking place. A blue circle means active cooperative play is underway. A red circle means there’s active PvP in the area.

It’s as simple as that. Now you know what ‘Show Multiplayer Status’ is all about, you can decide whether or not it’s a feature you want to take advantage of.
