The much anticipated next-gen update for Fallout 4 is almost here – in fact, it’s coming later on today.

After the huge success of Amazon Prime’s Fallout TV show, new and existing fans alike have been eager to jump into the most recent video game in the series.

Fallout 4 first came out back in 2015. However, since then, we’ve stepped into a whole new console generation with the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. Up until now, Fallout 4 has been capped at 30FPS on new consoles, meaning there has been no way for players on those machines to experience Fallout with next-gen performance.

Thankfully, the new update will bring Fallout 4 into 2024 with upgraded performance and all-new content. Once installed, players will be able to enjoy a choice of two new Performance and Quality modes that offer 60FPS or 4K resolution respectively.

This is when fans can expect the update to arrive in different timezones:

  • North America – 9am PDT / 10am MDT / 11am CDT / 12pm EDT
  • UK and Ireland – 5pm BST
  • Europe – 6pm CEST / 7pm EEST
  • Asia/Oceania – 1am JST / 12am AWST / 2am AEST

Alongside some new craft-able weapons and settlement pieces, there six all-new Enclave themed Creation Club items that are free in the update. They are:

  • Enclave Weapon Skins
  • Enclave Armour Skins
  • Tesla Cannon
  • Hellfire Power Armour
  • X-02 Power Armour
  • Heavy Incinerator

Xbox users over on Reddit are reporting that the update has already gone live in some locations. It apparently clocks in at a chunky 22.59GB.

So, if you’ve been eager to check out Fallout 4 after watching the TV show, there’s no better time than today to jump back in to the Wasteland.
