Whether Marvel or Star Wars, recent Disney+ output has failed to inspire notable interest and excitement among the respective fanbases. But, this month, Star Wars: Ahsoka is set to debut and it looks like it may buck the trend. However, with the release of its final trailer, Star Wars fans everywhere now want to know how it is possible for Anakin Skywalker to be in Ahsoka.

Rumours of Hayden Christensen returning in Ahsoka as Anakin have been circulating for some time. In 2021, Ahsoka star Rosario Dawson announced on Instagram that Christensen would return in his most famous role. The post was later deleted.

With no official confirmation, speculation continued as promotion for Ahsoka ramped up. But it wasn’t until Disney released the “Force” trailer on 13th August 2023 that fans could finally rejoice. Anakin, played by Hayden Christensen, was featured heavily.

Unfortunately, the exact nature of his role in the series is unclear. Anakin Skywalker was Ahsoka’s master, but she “walked away from him” and was ultimately forced into hiding following the enactment of Order 66.

What is clear is that Anakin’s role in Ahsoka’s earlier life will be a primary focus. His voice can be heard throughout the trailer. But with Ahsoka taking place after Return of the Jedi, Anakin will be dead at the time of its story. So, how is it possible that Anakin Skywalker is in Star Wars: Ahsoka?

How is Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Ahsoka? Explained

No explanation has been given for Anakin Skywalker’s role in Star Wars: Ahsoka despite the character being dead. However, it can be reasonably assumed that Anakin (played by Hayden Christensen) will return in the form of flashbacks or as a force ghost.

While the relationship between Anakin and Ahsoka was explored in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, fans will be keen to learn even more about it in Ahsoka (particularly as it was referenced during her appearances in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett).

Exactly how Anakin will factor into Ahsoka’s life after his death is unknown. However, we don’t have to wait long to find out. Star Wars: Ahsoka debuts on Disney+ on 22nd August 2023.
