Item descriptions are deliberately vague, so you’ll after have to figure things out for yourself. Ashes of War can be obtained from all over the Lands Between. How to Change Ashes of War in Elden Ring

First things first – there’s a difference between Spirit Ashes and Ashes of War. Spirit Ashes use FP to summon a helpful ally to aid you in a fight. Ashes of War grant special abilities to weapons.

You will come across Ashes of War right at the start of Elden Ring. They can prove instrumental in winning fights; although, some are more useful than others. As such, you will likely want to change which ones you have equipped.

This is how to change Ashes of War in Elden Ring. Retrieve the Wheatstone Knife from the cellar in the Gatefront Ruins area. This unlocks the ability to swap and change Ashes of War. Go to any Site of Grace, rest, and select Ashes of War at the menu. Here you can apply or remove Ashes of War from compatible weapons.
