Anything to get a taste of that classic Battlefield experience.

What options are available in 2021?

So, with EA sorting the server capacity issues and excitement for Battlefield 2042 at a high, how can you play Battlefield 4 in 2021?

How to Play Battlefield 4 on PS4 & PS5

EA Have Boosted Server Capacity

To cope with the increased demand, EA have confirmed they’re booting up additional servers for Battlefield 4.

EA’s community manager addressed the Battlefield 4 server issues in a post on the EA Answers page, saying “We’ve been monitoring your experience and notice queue times in the US West region were far longer than in other regions. Good news, we’ve increased server capacity for this region–you can expect less waiting, and more playing.”

At present, only the US West region has needed extra servers to cope with demand. But, no need to worry. EA have contingencies in place in case the issue spreads to other regions: “We’ll continue monitoring queue times and will make further adjustments as necessary.”

Message from the EA Community Manager stating Battlefield 4 servers are being boosted due to Battlefield 2042 demand

On the one hand, it’s almost unheard of that an eight-year-old game is still receiving that kind of maintenance. But on the other, recent offers on Battlefield 4 (including an Amazon Prime freebie) and the announcement of Battlefield 2042 will have caused this spike in demand.
