The final season of Top Boy arrives on Netflix on 7th September 2023. The official trailer dropped today and fans are already speculating about what might happen. That’s primarily because former characters appear in the trailer, including Ra’Nell and Jamie. But after his shocking fate at the end of Season 4, is Jamie going to be in the final season of Top Boy on Netflix?

It’s only natural that fans will question whether the character will return. After all, surprise comebacks are nothing new when it comes to TV shows. But what makes Jamie’s situation different is that he was very clearly killed off in the final episode of Season 4.

Jamie, portrayed by Michael Ward, was a central character in Netflix’s Top Boy revival. In Season 3 and 4, he served as an anti-hero and was the leader of the Zero Tolerance (ZT) gang. He was deeply involved in narcotics distribution around the Summerhouse estate and Hackney. This put him in direct conflict with Dushane and Sully.

While he seemingly aligned himself with the pair as Season 4 came to an end, he was murdered in cold blood by Sully. After a knock at the door, Jamie answered it. He was immediately shot in the chest by Sully and fell to the floor. After a brief pause, Sully stood over Jamie’s body and shot him in the head, killing him instantly.

However, Jamie does reappear in the trailer for the final season. Does that mean the character actually survived and will be coming back for revenge?

Did Jamie survive and is he in the final season of Top Boy?

While he appears in the trailer for the new season of Top Boy, Michael Ward is not returning as Jamie.

There has been no news or announcements to indicate the character will be coming back. Furthermore, his death was clear and left no room for debate regarding his fate.

He was shot point blank in the head by Sully and died immediately. It is exceedingly unlikely that Top Boy‘s writers will have decided to keep Jamie alive as this would be incredibly unrealistic. It would likely be viewed a jump-the-shark moment and completely remove the show from the grounded and believable presentation it has been praised for.

Despite this, there is a possibility that Jamie will return in the form of flashbacks. Stefan, Jamie’s youngest brother, is featured prominently in the trailer and it appears he will be seeking revenge against Sully.

In the trailer, a brief clip of Sully is shown before it cuts to a character telling Stefan: “One day, that brother’s gonna get what’s coming to him.”

Exactly how Stefan will take revenge against Sully is unclear. However, this direction for the story is unquestionably better and more interesting than Jamie miraculously surviving. Thankfully, we don’t have long to wait until we can see exactly how it all plays out.
