Mortal Kombat 1 is finally here. The reboot of the long-running fighting franchise features a stacked roster of fighters for players to try.
A central part of any fighting game is to learn the button inputs and combos to execute the coolest and most effective moves. Mortal Kombat 1 is no different with 46 different Fatalities for players to get to grips with.
Fatalities are the gruesome special moves that the Mortal Kombat series is known for. Each character has their own unique move that must be triggered by hitting certain controller inputs in sequence.
These graphic, over-the-top manoeuvres involve characters delivering absurdly creative death blows to their opponents. Since the series’ inception in 1992, Fatalities have been a key element, adding shock value and excitement to gameplay. From Scorpion’s signature “Toasty!” uppercut to Sub-Zero’s spine-ripping freezes, Fatalities are not just about winning but showcasing the game’s dark, visceral charm.
Alongside the usual main roster of characters, MK1 also introduces Kameo Fighters. Kameos are partner characters that assist your main fighter during matches. They are chosen separately and create additional offensive opportunities in fights. What’s more, they even come with their own Fatalities, as detailed below.
With the game being available on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, the Fatality inputs are slightly different depending on which console you’re playing on.
