Palworld sells 6 million copies in just four days

Palworld – the hit video game jokingly nicknamed “Pokémon with guns” – has rocketed past yet another milestone. It has sold an astonishing 6 million copies in the four days since its release.

The incredible achievement was announced by developer Pocket Pair via the official Palworld X account. The company said: “Palworld has sold over 6 million copies in only 4 days! Our all-time peak player count has also surpassed 1.7 million.”

Pocket Pair thanked players for their support and also noted that it was working to resolve the game’s technical issues.

“Some users are experiencing problems and bugs, which we are addressing with the highest priority.”, the Palworld account said.

This news follows days of headlines about Palworld, which has taken the video game industry by complete surprise.

It was first revealed back in June 2021 and received relatively little attention. After all, it was an unknown indie game from an unknown Japanese developer.

However, it has broken records and far exceeded expectations ever since its release on PC via Steam. While still in Early Access, gamers have been captivated by its vibrant creatures and satirical world.

With seemingly endless comparisons being drawn to Pokémon, what sets Palworld apart is that players can equip their “Pals” – the game’s creatures – with firearms.

They can also be captured in a similar fashion to Pokémon and used for food and labour. Accusations of plagiarism are mounting, however they are currently unproven.

Despite the controversy, players don’t seem to be growing tired of Palworld. At this point, it’s reasonable to expect many more sales milestones to be crossed.
