A Resident Evil player has found and shared their top pick for the most gruesome death in the series – and other fans agree.
The long-running and (mostly) critically-acclaimed horror series is known for its horrific looking enemies. It has featured everything from bog-standard zombies to giant mutated creatures.
Similarly memorable are the deaths that the franchise’s characters can suffer. One wrong move can result in decapitation, dismemberment, disembowelment or anything in between.
Out of the long list of gruesome deaths in RE, one of my personal favourites is the simple but effective Mr. X head pop in Resident Evil 2 remake. If you’ve seen it, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
Last year’s excellent Resident Evil 4 remake is also packed full of them.
Naturally, other fans have their own picks for the goriest deaths. One fan recently took to Reddit to share their choice.

They attached a GIF of fan-favourite character Leon S. Kennedy in Resident Evil 6. He is attacked by the Rasklapanje, a heavily mutated C-Virus-infected creature.
In the clip, the leech-like Rasklapanje appears out of nowhere and forces Leon’s head into a meat grinder (which resembles a large spinning fan).
Leon and the Rasklapanje are slowly dragged into the machine head first and blood spews everywhere. Hilariously, secondary character Helena (Leon’s co-op partner in RE6) stands idly by and does nothing to help.
Fans were quick to notice this. “Helena is just chilling in the background, not doing a damn thing to help!”, said one.
Another commented: “The thing that made me bust up laughing first time I got this kill was that Helena is just staring at the wall unfazed by the predicament Leon is into and doesn’t help lol”.
The post has already achieved almost 10,000 upvotes, so it appears plenty of fans concur with u/nesatzuke’s pick for the most gruesome death in Resident Evil.
At least Resident Evil 6 was good for something, huh?
