Cat lovers rejoice, Stray PS5 is on the horizon and it promises the ultimate next-gen feline adventure!

First unveiled back in June 2020 at PlayStation’s Future of Gaming event, Stray immediately grabbed people’s attention for its unique concept and gorgeous cyberpunk art style. At first glance, it might seem silly. But playing as a cat offers an exciting new gameplay opportunity that shouldn’t be underestimated. Not only does it look fun and creative, but there’s a darker element of mystery around Stray‘s long-forgotten city setting. And I for one can’t wait to jump in and explore it all!

Stray PS5 Release Date

“When is Stray coming out?” Early 2022 according to the new gameplay trailer, although a specific release date has yet to be confirmed.

Of course, “early 2022” gives a lot of scope for movement. It could be January but it could also be March or even April. We don’t know yet. But given that 2022 isn’t that far away now, we’d say it’s fairly likely Annapurna Interactive will stick to that release window. Let’s hope so, because Stray looks pretty damn fun.

Stray PS5 Gameplay

In Stray, you take control of a cat who has been separated from his family and is lost in a city populated by robots. Stray is a third-person adventure game that is set in a cyberpunk open world. To get the cat back to his lost family, the player must control him as he navigates obstacles and platforms and solves kitty-friendly puzzles.

Along the way, the cat meets a drone companion called B12 who accompanies him on his adventure. B12 helps with translating the world’s languages and with storing items for later use.

One of the game’s enemies are Zurks. They’re like rats and attack the cat in vicious swarms.

Annapurna Interactive gave us an awesome glimpse of the gameplay in the latest trailer.

What happened to the humans in Stray?

It looks like they disappeared. Exactly how or why, we don’t know. But Stray‘s trailers leave some cryptic clues that help shed some light on things.

The game’s first teaser trailer clearly shows graffiti that reads “R.I.P. Humans” and a love heart at the 20 second mark. Then, at the 30 second mark, we can see “No Escape” sprayed across a wall behind two homeless robots. Based on these clues, it looks like humans didn’t meet a very nice end in the world of Stray.

Is Stray a PS5 exclusive?

Even though some have touted Stray as a PS5 exclusive, it isn’t. It’s also coming to PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PC at the same time in early 2022.

Originally, a PC release was announced as coming at a later date. From the announcement in the new trailer, that appears to have changed.
