This Tekken 8 guide explains how to get the secret ending in The Dark Awakens story mode and contains major spoilers.

Tekken 8 is a true return to form for the long-running fighting game series. And it might just be the best Tekken game of them all.

Its gameplay has never been better, it has a stacked roster, and features plenty of content for players to sink their teeth into.

This includes its excellent story mode, The Dark Awakens. It follows protagonist Jin Kazama as he seeks a final battle against his father Kazuya Mishima, who is hell-bent on world domination.

After multiple twists and turns in the story, Jin and Kazuya finally come face to face. Jin, having transformed into Angel Jin, battles his father who is in his True Devil form.

The two collide on an asteroid floating in the stratosphere. After a brutal showdown, they fall back to Earth and have one last fight in their human forms.

In Tekken 8‘s true ending, Jin emerges victorious over his father and leaves him for dead. His unconscious body is then seemingly recovered by Jun Kazama, Jin’s mother.

However, the game features a secret ending that players are likely to miss. It completely changes the conclusion to Tekken 8’s story, and this is how to get it…

How to get the secret ending in Tekken 8

This is how to get the secret ending in Tekken 8: To get the secret ending, you must lose the final battle against Kazuya Mishima.

Handily, you can replay the game’s final chapter by using the chapter select feature. Simply select “The Dark Awakens” in the Main Menu, and choose Chapter 15 “Strength and Conviction”.

While Jin and Kazuya’s final fight is split into multiple rounds, you only need to lose the last round to get the alternate ending.

So, don’t worry about trying to get Kazuya to defeat Jin until the very end of the fight.

It’s also worth bearing in mind that getting Tekken 8‘s secret ending is necessary to unlock the “Despair” trophy/achievement. This trophy/achievement requires players to complete Chapter 15 with Kazuya Mishima emerging victorious.

What happens in Tekken 8’s secret ending?

Tekken 8‘s alternate ending is essentially the exact opposite of its true ending.

Widely assumed to be non-canon, this ending shows Kazuya defeating Jin. He then carries Jin’s body to the edge of a cliff and throws it off onto the rocks below. Kazuya smirks as Jin’s body falls.

Kazuya is then shown sitting at his desk as melancholic music plays. He declares that “Even without my devil form, I’ll fight to the end. In this world, power controls everything.”

As with Jin’s ending, Reina is featured in the post-credits scene. She reveals that Heihachi was her father. She then transforms into a devil.
