It has been more than five years since the release of Breath of the Wild and the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is almost upon us. A sequel to the 2017 game, Tears of the Kingdom follows Link and Zelda as they battle against an evil force that wants to destroy the world of Hyrule. Those who have digitally pre-ordered the game are keen to know when it will be available to play on Nintendo Switch. But when is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom‘s release time in the UK?
The upcoming game returns to the Kingdom of Hyrule, the setting from Breath of the Wild. The open world has been expanded to include floating islands in the sky that allow for vertical traversal. “You’ll decide your own path through the sprawling landscapes of Hyrule and the mysterious islands floating in the vast skies above,” reads Tears of the Kingdom‘s official description.
In the game, players will “embark on a perilous quest to unravel the truth behind a cataclysmic event that has sent the kingdom into turmoil.” You can also make use of Link’s new abilities to create weapons and vehicles to aid you in your quest.

GameSpot received confirmation from Nintendo that the game will launch in the US on 11 May at 9pm PT and 12 May at 12am ET. That translates to 5am on 12 May in the UK’s timezone.
Preload and Download Size
Those who preordered Tears of the Kingdom digitally can now preload the game so it is ready to play immediately on release.
The game weighs in it at a sizeable 16.2 GB download, so be sure that you have enough free space on your Switch to download it ahead of time.
