Warzone 2 Third Person Mode Removed – Will It Come Back?

Warzone 2.0 is well underway. Players have been getting stuck into Al Mazrah and have been learning about everything the new map brings to the table – including some new playlists. Warzone 2 Third Person mode was something of a low-key hit, but now it has been inexplicably removed from the playlist options.

Outside of new modes, the revamped Call of Duty battle royale has changed the game in a number of ways by introducing new features such as the re-jigged looting system, the 2v2 gulag, and the split circle.

More subtle changes like reduced time-to-kill, aggressive AI, and the introduction of two and three plate armor vests have also mixed things up. And all these changes have resulted in a split reaction from players. Some love it, and others really don’t.

However, Warzone 2 Third Person mode found a loyal player base who enjoyed the different perspective it offered. Even though the third person mode had only been in circulation for a few weeks, Infinity Ward has seemingly taken the decision to remove it.

But why did Infinity Ward remove Warzone 2 Third Person mode? And will it come back?

Why Was Warzone 2 Third Person Mode Removed?

As mentioned, Warzone 2.0 has only been up and running for a few weeks. At launch, the available playlists were Battle Royale Quads, Duos, and Solos, Unhinged Trios, and Third Person Trios.

Of course, the standard modes will always be the most popular. But Third Person offered players something that hasn’t been seen in CoD since the original Modern Warfare 2. As a result, it was popular with gamers who prefer the third person perspective.

But why was Warzone 2 Third Person mode removed? No official explanation for the removal of Warzone 2‘s Third Person mode has been given. However, it appears to have been removed to make room for standard Trios.

The strange thing in this case is that Third Person mode offered players a unique experience – it wasn’t just a simple twist on the standard Battle Royale. Consequently, players expected it to remain in the game forever. Instead, Third Person fans are now left without their favourite mode.

If space needed to be made for traditional Trios, Unhinged Trios would’ve been the logical sacrifice. After all, most players don’t make any use of its recruitment mechanic.

Will Warzone 2 Third Person Mode Come Back?

With the removal of Third Person mode comes the inevitable speculation about when or if it will return.

So, will Warzone 2 Third Person mode come back? As mentioned, no reason has been given for the removal of Third Person mode. However, different playlists were cycled in and out of the original Warzone, so players should expect the same to happen in Warzone 2.0. That means that Warzone 2 Third Person mode will likely be back at some point in the future.

Unfortuntately, fans of the unique mode are now left without a viable alternative. That is, unless they want to play traditional first person Battle Royale.

When exactly Third Person mode will be back is anyone’s guess. However, if the backlash created by its removal is anything to go by, we wouldn’t be surprised if it returns within the next few weeks.
