Ahsoka is arguably one of the better Star Wars TV shows released on Disney+. It features a number of compelling characters, great action sequences, and interesting plot developments. In episode six, we are finally introduced to Grand Admiral Thrawn and his Night Troopers, the Stormtroopers who make up his forces on Peridea. Most notable among them is the ominous-looking Stormtrooper with the gold mask – but who is he?

Star Wars is, of course, well-known for its cool and highly recognisable character designs. And while Stormtrooper variants are relatively commonplace in the franchise’s lore, we have never seen one quite like this.

This particular Stormtrooper’s helmet isn’t entirely gold. Predominantly, it is a standard Stormtrooper helmet. However, it has been fitted with a unique and intimidating gold mask that resembles something from Greek or Roman mythology.

Who is the Stormtrooper with the gold mask in Ahsoka?

The Stormtrooper with the gold mask in Ahsoka is Enoch. He is Thrawn’s Captain of the Guard and the commander of his forces.

Enoch is portrayed by actor Wes Chatham.

He is first introduced in the episode “Part Six: Far, Far Away” when Morgan Elsbeth, the Great Mothers, Baylan Skoll, and Shin Hati meet Thrawn for the first time. Enoch’s troops are shown chanting “Thrawn!” while Enoch shouts commands at them. Viewers also get their first up-close look at Enoch’s mask during this scene.

Thrawn greets the group and states they will all soon leave exile with Mogan Elsbeth’s help. He also introduces Enoch, stating: “This is Enoch, captain of my guard.”

Enoch is later seen giving Sabine Wren her lightsaber and blaster back before she is sent into the wilderness of Peridea to find Ezra Bridger. He tells her: “Be warned. Nomads wander this wasteland and prey upon each other for survival. Here are your weapons.” Before Wren departs, Enoch gives her an ominous goodbye: “Die well.”

It remains to be seen exactly what role Enoch will play in the show’s final two episodes. What we do know, however, is that we can’t wait to see more of his awesome gold mask.
