In God of War Ragnarok, there are a number of methods the game uses to prevent you from accessing certain areas and chests without a little forethought.
One way it achieves this is by placing golden rocks in your path. These can be cleared with an explosion, but it isn’t always immediately obvious how to cause the explosion.
For this chest in particular, you need to make use of Freya.
This is how to get down to the chest at Cliffside Ruins in God of War Ragnarok:
Look to the left and you will see a raised bridge. Lower it using the chain on the right side and cross over.
Chain Freya’s Sigil arrows along the red markings.
Finally, cross back over and use the Blades to ignite the hex chain and blow up the rocks.
You are now free to jump down and open the chest.
