The main menu screen for the much-anticipated Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater has been unveiled by Konami.

In a new 21-minute “Production Hotline” video shared on the company’s Japanese YouTube channel, fans were treated to a brief glimpse of the screen.

Showcased during the final minute of the video, the game’s logo appears alongside the “Start Game” prompt. The Soviet jungle setting can be seen in the background as tense music plays.

The video ends with the game “starting” and the familiar sound of a gun being fired. You can check out a screenshot of the main menu below.

Metal Gear Solid Δ is the upcoming remake of the critically acclaimed 2004 stealth action game Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Long-rumoured, the game was first revealed in May 2023 as part of a PlayStation Showcase event.

Despite Konami sharing some pre-alpha footage and screenshots, details about the title remain relatively scarce.

Much of the speculation surrounding the game has focussed on how many elements of the original Snake Eater will be carried over to the remake.

This includes MGS3‘s memorable main menu screen, which featured animations of main character Naked Snake fighting enemy soldiers.

Now we know this aspect of Snake Eater won’t be included in Metal Gear Solid Δ, it remains to be seen what else Konami has decided to change.

Canonically the first Metal Gear game, the original Snake Eater on PS2 followed covert operative Naked Snake as he navigated the treacherous Soviet jungle to save a Russian rocket scientist working on a powerful and mysterious weapon system.

Along the way, Snake comes up against the dangerous Cobra Unit (including his former ally and mentor The Boss), as well as series mainstay Ocelot and the sadistic GRU colonel Volgin.

MGS3 has been re-released three times before, first on the PS3 and Xbox 360 as part of the Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection. It later came to the Nintendo 3DS as Snake Eater 3D and recently arrived on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC in the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection.

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater will be the first full remake of the game. Its release date is yet to be confirmed, however it is expected to launch in late-2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

We’re already counting the days until we’re sneaking around Groznyj Grad once again.
