With Helldivers 2 turning out to be an incredible, albeit totally unexpected, success, attention is now turning to new content for the game.

While fans are still enjoying everything on offer in the base game, there are still some niggling points of criticism and room for improvement.

Much of the conversation has focused on occasionally repetitive missions, lack of enemy variety, and no vehicles.

Thankfully, it appears this will soon be addressed as part of upcoming content updates for Helldivers 2 (if recent leaks and speculation are to be believed).

With that being said, what do we know about future content for Helldivers 2 and when will it arrive?

What new content is coming to Helldivers 2?

Mechs have already been confirmed for Helldivers 2. Yes, you read that correctly. Mech stratagems will be coming to the game in the future.

We know this because the game’s Report for Duty trailer featured a mech at the end, along with the caption “Coming soon after launch.”

Furthermore, leaked footage has appeared on Reddit and social media showcasing mech gameplay in Helldivers 2.

Regarding additional new content, no official announcements have been made. However, there is much speculation that the following content will be added to Helldivers 2 in the near future:

  • Stratagem: AI-controlled Super Earth soldier squad
  • Stratagem: Meteorite
  • Vehicles (such as a buggy)
  • New laser guns
  • New flying enemies
  • New mission types
  • New faction

When is new content coming to Helldivers 2?

No official release dates have been announced for new content. However, we do know that mechs will be coming to the game soon as confirmed by the aforementioned trailer.

There is also no guarantee that new content will drop all at once. It is far more likely that Arrowhead will gradually release new features over time to help maintain the player base’s interest.

So, for now, fans will just have to make the most of the ample content included in the base game. After all, it sounds like we’ll be enjoying mech combat before we know it.
