This guide explains where to find the Shaw Gang Cave Key location for The Empty Nest mission in Starfield.

In Starfield, tracking down alien artefacts is the name of the game. As you’d expect, getting your hands on them isn’t as simple as just walking up and collecting them.

Most of the time, you need to fight your way through a horde of enemies before you get to the artefact. And that is exactly what happened to me during The Empty Nest mission.

The Empty Nest mission took me to Akila City – a wild west like settlement on the planet of Akila. I was joined by Sam Coe, the grandson of the city’s founder, Solomon Coe.

Luckily for me and the rest of Constellation, Solomon left a map to a cave he called The Empty Nest. That cave just so happened to contain one of the alien artefacts that I was after.

Unfortunately, the cave is guarded by the Shaw Gang. They are a crew of criminals that orchestrate a range of illegal activities around Akila City.

The Shaw Gang have the cave locked down tight and to get to the artefact I needed to acquire the Shaw Gang Cave key to get through a locked gate.

Let’s go over where to find the Shaw Gang Cave Key location in Starfield.

This is where I found the Shaw Gang Cave Key location in Starfield for The Empty Nest mission:

The key can be found on top of a box behind the Contraband Stash in the living area just up from the locked gate. The key looks like a yellow rectangular card.

The nearby Contraband Stash is also worth unlocking as it contains highly valuable contraband that you can sell at a high price. It is protected by an Expert lock, so you need to have the Rank 2 Security skill.

The key can also be looted from the bodies of some Shaw Gang members in the cave.

Once you have the key, head down to the gate and let yourself through. More gang members wait on the other side, so be careful not to get killed as you press forward.
