PlayStation Plus’ monthly freebies are a highlight of the gaming calendar. Every four weeks or so, users are treated to three free games to enjoy. Often, these titles include big releases from the last couple of years; however, many lesser known games have received a boost in popularity thanks to their arrival on PlayStation Plus. This month, Media Molecule’s Dreams is one of those free games. But what are the Best Dreams games you can play right now?

For those who don’t know, Dreams is a video game creation platform from the developer of LittleBig Planet. Like an expanded LBP, Dreams allows users to create their very own games using its suite of tools and assets. These games can then be shared with and played by the community.

Since its release in 2020, Dreams has failed to reach the the level popularity attained by LittleBig Planet. Nevertheless, it still features hundreds of games for players to get stuck into. With its release on PlayStation Plus, new players will be wanting to know which are the best Dreams games to play. So, let’s take a look at five unmissable Dreams games…

1. The Backrooms

If you’ve been online at any point in the last four years, it is likely you will have heard of The Backrooms. Stemming from a 4chan creepypasta, the location has gone onto become one of the internet’s most popular horror urban legends.

While The Backrooms is an entirely fictional place, there is no doubt that the eery locations has worked its way into the subconscious of kids and adults around the globe. As a result, it has inspired numerous adaptions including video games and short films. One such adaption, titled “The Backrooms”, is available on Dreams.

The horror game is impressively complex for a fan-made affair and comes complete with its story, surprisingly good visuals and extensive voice acting. Best of all, it is actually quite scary and plays on The Backrooms setting well.

2. Ruckus – Just another Natural Disaster

Ever wondered what it would be like to be Godzilla? Well, Ruckus has you covered.

Jump into the shoes of a Kaiju and smash your way through a full city complete with buildings, landmarks, a nuclear power-plant and a volcano. Destroy things to earn points which place you on a leader board against other players.

Ruckus, the game’s titular hero, can use their tail, arms, and even a laser to destroy the city. The only question is, how much of it can you demolish before the army drop nukes to stop you in your path?

3. P.T. (VR Compatible)

All horror game fans remember P.T., the acclaimed 2014 playable teaser from Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and filmmaker Guillermo del Toro.

Intended to unveil their upcoming Silent Hills game, P.T. was ultimately the only glimpse of that game we ever got thanks to Konami and Kojima’s highly publicised falling out after the release of Metal Gear Solid V.

While P.T. has since been removed from online stores, numerous fan-made remakes have cropped up over the years. One such remake (from creator lewisc729) exists on Dreams and it is remarkably close to the real thing. So, if you’ve got a hankering to revisit that terrifying looping corridor, be sure to check out P.T. on Dreams.

4. Art Therapy

We all have stressful days. Sometimes, we wish we could smash something to release some of that tension. Thankfully, Dreams has the answer for anyone who is wanting an outlet for some of that stress.

Art Therapy places you in the shoes of a disgruntled artist whose pieces have been rejected by a museum director. Fraught with rage at the director’s decision, the artist decides to exact vengeance by taking his trusty baseball bat to the museum’s existing collection.

Once you’re inside, you must cause as much damage as possible without being apprehended by security. Art Therapy is quite a cathartic experience, so long as you don’t mind smashing up some timeless masterpieces.

5. Trip’s Voyage

Trip’s Voyage has won a number four awards at Dreams‘ 4th Annual Impy Awards: Excellence in Art Direction, Creation of the Year, Evolving Experience, and Excellence in Gameplay. If that doesn’t convince you that this is one to check out, nothing will.

In the game, you take control of Trip, a cat who embarks on a grand adventure for gold. A 3D platform game, Trip’s Voyage features an enchanting visual style, engaging puzzles, and numerous different islands to explore.
