It might not feel like it but 2015 was eight years ago. Back then, Fallout 4 was a brand new game that took players into the heart of the post-apocalyptic Commonwealth for the first time. Almost ten years later, fans are still revisiting the world of Fallout 4. One of the way players keep things fresh is by installing fan-made mods. Each month, many new Fallout 4 mods are added to the Fallout Nexus site; however, a lot of them get overlooked.

This article aims to bring attention to new Fallout 4 mods that players might want to add to their game. Everything from new weapons and quests to script extenders and patches are eligible to be included – as long as they’ve been released in the last month.

With so much new fan-made content to get stuck into, let’s take a look at the top 5 new Fallout 4 mods to check out this month…

New Fallout 4 mods – Top 5 in August 2023

1. SIG MCX Virtus

Fallout 4 comes with an extensive arsenal of weaponry to choose from. However, after spending months or years playing the game, it is likely that players will become bored with the selection of weapons.

Thankfully, there are a plethora of weapon mods out there. The SIG MCX Virtus mod from MsVal is brand new and features a modifiable rifle based on the real-life gun of the same name. A version of the SIG MCX – the XM7 – was adopted by the U.S. Army in 2022.

This mod features one rifle as well as a number of different attachments including barrels, lasers, lights, and optics.

2. REAL.AI

Anyone who has played a Bethesda RPG (including Fallout 4) knows how janky the AI can be sometimes. That’s not to say it is bad but it doesn’t always function in the most realistic way. That’s where the REAL.AI mod comes.

REAL.AI comes from developer Thumblesteen. It completely overhauls AI behaviour in Fallout 4 to make them “behave more organically”, allowing the game’s AI to perform at “its full potential”.

In practise, this makes the wasteland more dangerous. As a result, REAL.AI comes with a learning curve as players will need to adapt to a new way of playing the game. It might seem harder at first, but in the end it produces a more authentic post-apocalyptic sense of danger and tension.

3. FO4 Fixes And Enhancements (Fate Patch)

We all know how buggy Fallout 4 can be at times. While some minor glitches can make for mildly humorous clips others can be gamebreaking. The existing Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch mod addresses many of those issues; however, it doesn’t solve them all.

TheSoundOfSnow‘s FATE Patch mod incorporates hundreds of bug fixing and gameplay enhancing mods to solve many of the problems not addressed by the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch. The FATE Patch’s list of changes and fixes is extensive and the mod has already been adopted by more than 13,000 players since its release in July.

If you want the smoothest gameplay experience possible, the FATE Patch is a must.

4. P.A.S. – Post Apocalyptic Survivor

Fallout 4 is full of cool items of clothing but that doesn’t stop the modding community from coming up with some truly badass creations for us to enjoy.

The P.A.S. – Post Apocalyptic Survivor mod from HeroicPie adds two customisable outfits to the game (one male and one female). Crafted at the Chemistry Station, the P.A.S. outfits are comprised of nine pieces and can be customised with six different patches.

The outfits are perfect for wasteland wanderers who want a combination of post-apocalyptic and military realism aesthetics.

5. F4NV Recharger Weaponry

The Fallout universe has more than its fair share of interesting and unique weaponry. Some guns appear in multiple games whereas others are more exclusive.

Fallout: New Vegas‘ Recharger weapons don’t make an appearance in the vanilla version of Fallout 4. However, ShimSham000‘s F4NV Recharger Weaponry mod brings them to the Commonwealth complete with updated textures.

The mod introduces three weapons to the game: the Recharger Rifle, the Recharger Pistol, and the MF Hyperbreeder Alpha. These guns have effectively limitless ammo thanks to their self-charging capabilities. This makes them incredibly useful in a world with scarce supplies.
