Few games are as anticipated as Hogwarts Legacy. Gamers can’t wait to dive into the Wizarding World on their console of choice. But will you be able to experience the adventure with friends? Will Hogwarts Legacy have multiplayer?

For starters, a bit of background. In case you’ve been living under a rock, Hogwarts Legacy is the long-awaited action RPG set in the Harry Potter universe.

As you’re probably aware, Harry Potter is one of the most beloved media franchises of all time. It has legions of fans – both casual and hardcore – and there is huge excitement for Hogwarts Legacy as a result.

The game was initially slated for release in time for the 2022 holiday season. However, it was confirmed on August 12th that it has been delayed to February 10th 2023.

Of course, this will be disappointing news for those who were hoping to enjoy Hogwarts Legacy over the winter break. But delays often work out for the best. And if a bit more time is needed for the game to be in tip-top condition, then so be it.

As for what we’ve seen of the game, it looks very promising. Its recent gameplay reveal further fuelled the significant hype surrounding Hogwarts Legacy, and it’s easy to see why.

You’ve likely noticed that duelling will be featured in the game. And you may be wondering if this means you’ll be able to dual against friends and other players online in PvP (player versus player) action. It’s an exciting prospect, no doubt.

And what about co-op – will friends be able to join you at Hogwarts? Allow us to answer the big question on your mind. Will Hogwarts Legacy have multiplayer?

Will Hogwarts Legacy have multiplayer?

Over the last decade, more and more games have provided both multiplayer and single-player experiences. And a game like Hogwarts Legacy certainly lends itself to multiplayer.

Will Hogwarts Legacy have multiplayer? No – Hogwarts Legacy will not have multiplayer. The game does not feature any multiplayer modes. Developer Avalanche Software has confirmed this via the game’s official Frequently-Asked-Questions page on the Hogwarts Legacy website.

So, there you have it. Hogwarts Legacy won’t include co-op or PvP modes. It’s worth bearing in mind that multiplayer requires significant resources to implement – and this is likely the reason it has been left out.

Because Avalanche has been focussing solely on developing Hogwarts Legacy as a single-player game, that suggests greater attention to detail and higher quality overall.

Often multiplayer is included to the detriment of a game’s single-player mode. There have been countless examples of this over the years.

And if leaving multiplayer out means the game turns out better, then we’re all for it. Of course, there’s always the possibility multiplayer will be introduced after release.

The demand and interest is clearly there – so maybe Avalanche will eventually decide to add it in. However, while this hasn’t been ruled out, it hasn’t been confirmed either.
